As might be expected more households had facilities for growing vegetables in the country than in towns.

It should be noted that of the rural interviews 71% were made in the Southern regions, or putting it another way 43.5% of the interviews made in the Southern area were in rural districts and 19.1% of those in the Midland area.

A considerably higher proportion of households in the Midlands than in other areas possesses a garden.

In the Southern regions a high figure would be expected as the bulk of the rural sample is included here. The figure for allotments is also high in this area. London show the lowest proportions having any facilities for growing vegetables.
