V. CAKES BOUGHT BY MEMBERS OF THE HOUSEHOLD OTHER THAN THE HOUSEWIFE

It is not only the housewife who buys cakes. Workers and schoolchildren may supplement the amount they get from home, bought by the housewife, by purchases of their own. To estimate properly how high the incidence of such purchases is, a special investigation would be needed. Here it was only possible to ask the housewife whether she knew of any such buying in her household.

21% of the housewives said that they knew that some members of their household bought cakes for their own consumption on their own account.
